New to the vw scene, looking for a bit of info...
but yeah i had a look around for a few months and decided i wanted to go down the vw route, but dont know much of them, had a cabby gti early feb but sold it in a month or so,
currently looking for a mk1/mk2 but cant really decide, mk1 gtis iirc have around 110bhp, il probably keep the car stock and keep the original engine but in terms of engine mods, high lift cams will these make any difference? what else can the engine offer,
a mk2 16v is out of the questions due to insurance, i can get an 8v but i hear there not as lively,
are all mk1s 16v? is it possible to get a normal 1.6/1.8 and fit it with webber/delorta or bike carbs and be quicker than a gti, ive seen a few on youtube,
cheers

cams on its will show improvement whilst cams with induction and exhaust improvements and head work will see greater gains.
id buy a gti, keep engine standard for a yr. then go 2.0 8v or mk2 16v engine swaps
