New girl/ Pics of 'Jef' & questions

Hi everyone and happy new year! I hope I'm now posting on the correct thread.. Please let me know if I'd be better elsewhere. I'm new on here & unsure of where & how to post.

I am the proud owner of the 1991 Golf Clipper cab below. Lovely isn't he?! He's in fairly good condition and has only had two lovely, careful lady owners in his lifetime. Lucky boy.

I have two questions I hope someone can help me with. First is regarding the steel wheels. I have one of the central, covers missing (the plasticy bit that comes off - very technical!) and would love to know where on this earth I can get a new one (or even four new ones)?

My second question is about some 'chugging' occuring when either going at very slow speeds or doing 70/80 on the motorway. It happened when I first bought it 8 years ago & was resolved by replacing a very rusted filler neck & fuel tank. Not cheap. I'm assuming it's the same issue back although I had a mechanic check it a few months ago & he said it was fine… Not sure I trust mechanics 100% though…! Does anyone know if this is a common problem on mk1's?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Jef's owner.

Nice looking chap isn't he? Like the colour  :)

Cant be of much help regarding the chugging - could be a number of things mostly related to fuel or ignition. I only trust mechanics if my circle of friends and i are stumped or cant be bothered trying to sort things any more.

If i were you then i would check/replace things in order of ease and cost to eliminate one at a time. Off the top of my head:
Check timing; Fuel filter; dizzy cap + rotor arm; plugs and leads; earth straps; air filter. After that i might be getting annoyed and telling someone else to fix it!

Try CrazyQuiffs for any bits you need like the centrecaps. Richard is both helpful and knowledgeable and parts have always been with me the day after ordering.
