negitive classic car owners,non dubs

why do other classic car owners have to be so negitive about people taking interest in their cars???!!!!

just went to buy some carb cleaner from local spares shop n there was a guy there who had a mk1 escort,looked pretty cool so thought id av a look before i went in and he was just rude!!  :posh:   as if id just opened his drivers door and wee'd on his seat 8O  said the classic motor show wasnt worth going and anything non ford isnt worth being interested in
fair enough but u think he'd be happy someone was interested in his motor,
i no i am wen people av a crack its good knowin other people out there who also like the old school and makes all the work u put into yur car and spending every last penny u spend on it worth while,

anway anyone else have that problem or it it just me being grumpy?

VW is one of the biggest and best scenes out there because there are still plenty around unlike rot box fords!

That guy needs to get down off his high horse and realise fords are not "practical classics" ulike our dubs.

Id love a mk1 escort mexico 8)  but i aint got the cash to a: buy one and b: maintain it.

I went to the classic car show yesterday and all i saw was a couple of xr2's, all the escort owners must of been busy

I've never come across any negativity from Ford owners, or any other make of cars for that matter. Bit of banter yes, but rudeness etc? Maybe its just that style of show, or your perceptions? What did you do to deserve that???

Some people just think there car is the best and don't like people nosing around it.  Not the best attitude in my opinion.

What a moody bugger! You can't really expect to have an old/rare car without having the odd person interested in it and looking round it can you? That's a big part of why classic car ownership is fun, surely? I would say you might have just caught him on a bad day, but the comment about anything non-Ford being pointless is a bit harsh!  :evil:

Maybe it was just a bad day for him, karma will have kicked in and he'll have broken down on the way home!!!

He doesn't sound like someone you'd want a conversation with, so dont take it to heart, saved yourself being bored to death by a single minded dumbnut.

You do get some people who hold the view that their marque of car manufacturer is the bees knees and always will be, luckily they tend to only go to shows that are for their car brand, thankfully they haven't clued how gratefull we are that they do  :wink:  :mrgreen:

had a guy come to talk to me last month while i was out back washing my car. ended up spending half hour talking to him about it. he went away happy (i let him sit in her)

I used to have escorts mk 11's back in the day but must admit the VW scene is a lot more fun, bigger and the people nicer

Ha! I'm currently having an "Interesting" dialogue with some Ford drivers on their forum  

haha interesting eh,well i understand how everyones feels,vw scene is the best and prob the funnest,iv got two mini's and that scene is ok but not as good as the vee dub,on my 5th now and 1st mk1 and loving it.

my 62cooper is nice but im allways worried about breaking it again,iv just finished rebuilding the engine after running it without an oil cooler and kinda cooked it
least with vw's they can take the pain and also loadsa room in the engine bay :y:
as for reliability…….there ace..thought i might not make it to n.e.c last weekend and gave me a new vote of confidence for going to more shows,1st time at nec and was good,more mk1's tho hopefully next time.
it was good meeting everybody and them being like minded people who love cars and the tinkering that comes along with them……roll on next show season!!!

Sounds like VW envy to me, anything ford can do VW can do better
