My 1st mk1

hello all. having registered on here after deciding it was time to move onto mk1 golf ownership from my mk3 polo gt the deed is finally done. last night i took a trip down to london and traded my 91 polo gt for a mk1 golf 1.1c i saw advertised in the for sale section on here. the paint work is shot but having closely inspected the car all over and underneath there is no major rust anywhere to be found. i finally have a sloid honest car to start restoring and adding my own touches to.

a few pics of my new baby

all ive done so far is give it a good wash and cleaned up everywhere i can get to. going to start repairing the minor damage to the boot lid and passenger door and start prepping it for paint. ill keep you updated on my progress and hope to find all the relevant info right here

What are your plans for it? I've got a low milege 1300cc engine in very good order going cheap if you fancy it?

i certainly did. made the effort to leave on the 130 mile trip at 6 last night to ensure no one beat me to it. certainly glad i did. at the moment plans are to sort all the body work out. repair or replace any damaged parts, prep everything then time for a full respray. as much as its going to upset all the purists out there im looking at fitting a set of coilovers so i can get a nice a low and maybe a set of polished porsche design 90s or teledials. 1300 engine sounds good to me. does it include everything to carry out the transplant or will i need to source the other parts? have you got the gearbox to go with it or will i need to source that or will my existing 4 speed fit for the time being? how much you want for it? ive been bitten by the bug and cant see it letting go any time soon. lol

Speeding is like masturbation, everyone does it ,but it's not something you should record and put on the internet!!

certainly sounds like a better option than repairing them. how much you looking for for the tail gate and door. dont suppose you'd have passenger door as well by any chance?

Not a problem, and the Polo lasted with me for a whole 36hours and I've now p/ex'd it against a 16v Turbo engine with Motec management so I'm happy with that  8)

well i have a bit of an update with the car. so far ive done minimul body repairs and got a covering of matt black all over just so its one solid uniform colour til i can afford to have it reprayed professionally. looks a lot tidier for it. and lowered it about 60mm too

you get the idea

Looks a lot better all as one colour, you gonna go with black when you get it sprayed? also you going any lower just I know how much you like your cars to kiss the ground  :)

Keep up the good work.

Matt black finish looks 'tough'.  I love it.
