moving to New Zealand

Hi, Dont know if anyone can help me but I am emigrating to New Zealand and was wondering how easy it is going to be to get a Mk1 GTI out there? - are there any owners clubs? - does anyone know about shipping one out there? - Please help 'cos I cant be without a Mk1!! - Thanks

yea if you ring a shipping container company .u rent a container . dont go for the first 1 there is plenty of companys out there

There is also the issue of getting the car cleaned because it's been used on UK roads. You need to have it hot steam cleaned underneath incase it is carrying parasites or viruses like foot & mouth etc. Once you get there it will be inspected for an import tax certificate and then it needs a form of MOT. All in all it's a lot of hassle but persevere and you will eventually get there. Not many MK1's out there, but a few, mostly strange Jap imports. Good luck
