mot pass and a brush with south yorkshires finest

ok, took the car for the retest yesterday after she failed on steering rack bushes and gaiters, not bad for a 22yr old car i thought.

on the way to the station officer dibble and pc plod are are sat in their range rover waiting for whatever, i casualy drive past they decide to follow me and pull me over, after a little chat about seatbelts as in why i didnt have mine on  :banghead:  we got on to the lack of mot to which i told him i was on my way to the testing station, after a few questions and a bit of i dont believe you from dibble i gave him the number which he rang and they confirmed when he described the car.  So 20minutes off self righteous bulls@~: he gave a £60 fine for the seatbelt, thought he might of let me off with that one :( , still on the bright side, the car now has a full mot, is rock solid underniegh and since the bushes have been done the steering feels great and the law didnt take my car which is great

regards

chris :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

After being fined for no seatbelt 8 years ago i never drive without one, doesn't feel right to drive without it on. The fine is annoying but if it saves your life because a copper drilled it in to you it's important then it's £60 well spent.

I always wear one too.

Having said that the one time I rolled a car I wasn't wearing one, and was ejected from through the sunroof. If I was wearing one that time, I wouldn't be typing this now…

But generally they save lives.

The Rangis boys will have been 'real' traffic cops rather than the sectional officers who drive the Astras etc.

They would have been looking for drivers who aren't wearing seatbelts/ no tax/ no insurance etc is their core duty. Its like CID dealing with burglars and robberies.

They are tasked with reducing road deaths and serious accidents and one way is to enforce legislation such as seat belts. The sectional officers may not have given you a ticket so you were unlucky to come across them.

Having attended a good few serious accidents, £60 is well worth a reminder not to forget to put it on… better than going through the windscreen. I've seen it 'in real life' and its not great.

Glad the car's solid though.

Sorry fella, but you asked for it, no seat belt.
Yes it's there job to find these things, can't do them for that, would they have pulled you ifyou were wearing seatbelt.
It may annnoy you, but it only annoys you if you let them win.
With the job they do they get to see the difference in accidents with drivers of whom wear and don't wear seatbelts.
It is annoying how they are quick to fine people these days, i am positive education is the key here or is it hmmm.
For example car insurance, let's say and we have all seen seen it on tv.
Excuse me sir, your car is going to impounded unless you can prove you have car insurance as it as come up on the anpr?
Then the story comes "What happens if you hit another car or pedestrian on the road"
Well depending on the circumstances at the alleged incident, lets say you did seriousy hurt someone i.e they passed away.
Would car insurance bring them back to life, or does it just and JUST to repair the cars or for replacements to the owner, YES.
So why do they use a sentence like the above?
Because it makes them feel more powerful in their duty and to make you feel as quilty as possible to pay up and accept the fine.
Law is a joke, really it is.
I've had clean licence since i passed many moons ago, never a point.
Why! because i don't give the police Constables/men/women NOT Officers any chance of collecting revenue from me.
Sorry about rant  your car passed mot all good, you've learnt hopfully unless you got money to burn and replacement licence
You didn't expect that did you
Pete
