Dont know what they will quote you to repair, but none of the fail items are labour intensive.
Keep us informed on what they quote, dont know where in the country your from but if your from the Midlands you wont find much better than Bert for MOT and repairs 8)

Where are you based ? Nottingham ? Try GSF for the parts …….headlights should be adjusted by screws on the side of the light, do you have a haynes manual , it will be a good help
Mk1 2l TSR G60. .getting. There twice as fast

Unfortunately I'm in Plymouth.
My MOT originally didn't run out till November 24th,
My tax is up the end if the month so I thought I'd get it done early,
Yesterday the garage said in not allowed to drive the car away from their place as it had failed.
I was understood to believe I was allowed to drive it home and find somewhere else to get it fixed , confused now as now I guess I will have to get them to fix it.

No, by getting it mot'd early and its failed invalidates that previous expiry date surely??
Go get the car like the others say and take elsewhere!

No, the MOT is still valid. The only reason they would say you shouldn't drive a car is if they found a serious fault that they considered it made the car dangerous to drive.
An MOT is only an indication that the vehicle was of a particular standard on the day of the test. It is still up to the driver to ensure the car is roadworthy for the rest of the year.

The garage cant stop you from picking it up and repairing it elsewhere…. they should just get you to sign something to say they've advised you that its not safe to drive.
I wouldnt say its 100% not safe to drive home from what its failed on though?
As said above though, Try GSF for parts
Hope you get it sorted

"An MOT certificate is valid until its expiry date. However if your vehicle fails a test before this date and you do not rectify the defects then you are driving an unroadworthy vehicle which is an offence."
So to put this into context if your car fails the MOT due to illegal tyres then you are driving an unroadworthy vehicle, you were driving unroadworthy vehicle before the MOT, and you will be driving an unroadworthy vehicle until you get a new tyre. Therefore at anytime if caught you would be subject to a £2500 fine and 3 points per illegal tyre.
or dangerous condistion for suspension as this effects the brakes and steering.
