I've heard good things about autoglyms cabrio kit
RRP £19.99
It has a cleaner and a protector in the kit

This is what i'll be trying out

Yip, can vouch for the Autoglym product.  Be careful not to overspray the fluid on the paint or windows - it's tricky to remove it once dry.

Current Mk1's
1992 VW Citigolf CTi 1.8i (SA)

Previous MK1's
2006 VW Velociti 1.6i (UK)
1992 VW Mk1 Golf Clipper 1.8 carb (UK)
2000 VW Mk1 Citigolf Life 1.6i (SA)
1991 VW Mk1 Citigolf Sport 1.8 carb (SA)
1983 VW Golf Mk1 GTS 1.6 carb (SA)

Whoa. There fellas,

You need Ragg topp cleaner and protectant.

It's the only stuff Harttz the actual material manufacturer recommends for safe use
I am not keen on Autoglym stuff at all.
I read on a forum about using fabsil, so used it on my roof, yes it waterproofed it, but it also I believe it dissolved the glue that sticks the material along the sides that form the channel where the side tension cable runs, so now my cables pop out when raising and lowering the top.

From now on I will only be using Ragg topp stuff.
There are other products out there and for vynil 303 aerospace protectant seems to be the top choice.
Also Renovo do some roof care products too.

Hi there, thanks ever so much for the advice and the honesty with the products fore mentioned. I'm in much agreement with you in how Autoglym is such a waste of money. Can you tell me where I could get the Raggtopp cleaner and protector from also this Vynil 303 aerospace as well

Cheers

303 Aerospace is what ive been using but I find a spray on product a nightmare to use as it gets everywhere.

When I get my golf back im going to switch to Renovo as there stuff is brush on.

I have always used the Renovo stuff on the wife's cabby.
First the cleaner and then once dry the protector.
Both applied with a brush so minimum chance of getting it everywhere !! Although have a cloth handy to wipe up the drips from the protector.

Really happy with the finish !!

Cheers,
Ade
