Modify or leave standard?

I have a problem,thing is I love my mk1 and can't see me getting rid of it for a very long time,but if I'm honest it just hasn't got enough poke for me,I'd like a turbo car and would love it to be my mk1 but most people I speak to think I should keep it standard as its so original now :dontknow:
Should I just buy a turbo car and leave the golf alone  :?
Any thoughts people?

Now it's not 'Pokey' enough, saw one last week with more 'Poke' than mine.

Modify it, thats what mk1,s are for. more fun with a bit more poke.

STANDARD……Everyone I meet in the motor trade drools over my Mk1…I don't understand why nearly everyone on here considers them a classic and then takes away that honour by personalising them…A standard Mk1 IS A CLASSIC nothing else will ever come close (except perhaps my daughters Figaro.)

I see what your all saying,it would be a shame to mod it as it is a decent example,thing is if I buy something else fast I may not use the mk1 as much and I don't want that to happen as it never fails to put a smile on my face  

modding it doesnt mean you have to end up with something non original,be subtle you can actally do a decent level of mods and still look like a stock car. oem+ mate cant be beat

agreed to above.. but do what you want, there's still enough mk1's left to keep modifying without causes a stir..

Keep it stock & buy another project and modify.

Its your car do what you want with it.

If you're concerned only modify things so that it can be put back to standard later if required.

^^^Agree^^^ bumpers mirrors some body trim grill lights and loads of other stuff you can change and just change back without compromising the stock finish of your car.

I kept it right for ages ...but every meet I went to there was loads of the same car.... So I went mad on it
