what have you messed up
ayup
my biggest mod/upgrade regret/mistake has got to be the universal electric window kit, what a bag of @@@@ that is, it works slowly or it sticks if i see another greasepot ill scream, the door cards have been removed more times than it was worth, ifyour ever thinking about it, dont do it, specially on a cabby, might be ok on tintop but i doubt it
the second was the central locking kit, it worked well for about a year then it packed in
moral - dont buy cheap kits they are utter rubbish
your turn

Coilovers are all rubbish no matter how much you spend
Looks good but ruins the ride
Even Kw's. I thought they were a good mixture of both?

Part of me regrets changing from small block to big block. I loved that little engine and the hassle of putting the new engine in almost makes me wander wether it was all worth it?

It must do when someone thinks you're a small engine and needs teaching a lesson

Jetex exhaust on a Clipper GTI, it's a modified saloon exhaust supplied with extra bolt on brackets to fit the later hangers, ignoring the still fitted welded saloon hanger. Not designed for the car, awkward to fit - a workaround bodge that's not worth the money. Shame on you Jetex.

Black roof! Was a spur of the moment thing when I was having it sprayed and wish I'd never! Think the car would look so much better all silver

Smoothing the door handles on genuine brand new doors also drilling a couple holes in genuine brand new wings for indicators! Drilled a couple holes in the doors at the quarter window for corrado mirrors😳
I was 19 at the time! Still have them thou and a tailgate in the factory primer…
I regret it every day I look at them!!!
But I think maybe worse has been fixed is how I keep sane

In no particular order…
G60 nothelle tuned and 203bhp - awful, truly awful. Ruined a good car.
16v conversion - KR lump that needed constant persuasion from the gear box.
16v conversion on twin 45's - sounded fantastic and looked great on the gear change over-run if you were behind it when it shot flames out of the back! But, really not that great to live with.
rear discs - made me lock up and spin rather than stop me! Yes, I know, and I fixed the bias settings.
Corrado interior - what was I thinking?
respraying in non factory colour - pointless
wide arches - looked unbalanced
rolled arches - wanted to put the GTI arches back on, but no lip left to attach!
BBS wheels built as 9's - looked ridiculous
rollcage in a road car - not sure why I thought I'd need one
autocavan stainless exhaust - made the car sound like a biplane from the beginning of the last century
16v clocks - I was hopeful to achieve the 160mph indicated at the end of them, but in reality they would never see much past 120mph. At that point you're pretty much aware of your speed, especially in a mk1.

Yes, I've been around a while too.
I've only listed the modifications I dislike.
