mk1 ownership is so much fun !!

started to use my car and every time i use it there is another issue.

started with not fire on all cyclinders so replaced dizzy cap, rotor arm and plug leads with still no improvement. so today spent some time scratching my head and found that injector number 1 was playing up ie no spray pattern just a single jet. so changed that and was running great so went out tonight. all was going ok but at high revs was getting some smoke so need to pressure test tomorrow and see what s going on there. then to top it off on the way home it was struggling at the top end like fuel starving not revving cleanly so i stopped left it running and started again and it would rev again. :banghead:

the gathering is next week and it best be able to get there !!!!!!!!

is this what i can expect all the time as a mk1 owner?

Hopefully not all the time! The upside is your MK1 looks spot on so at least you can sit and watch it on the drive when it's not working

Good luck for getting to the meet, sure you'll get it sorted

i was thinking the same about fuel system and took off the filter and some crap did come out so i will clean out the fuel lines and tank while the head and pistons are out hope that sorts the problem out. hopefully i ll get it back and running for the gathering.

Re: mk1 ownership is so much fun !!

was getting the fuel choke/starve before i put mine to bed for 3 years ,just got mine back on road after 3 years, changed fuel lines ,shes flys now, where the pump is theres a short bit of fuel pipe linking to main run, when i took all the old stuff off that particular pipe thats bows round 180degrees was practicaly closed on its bend, only the pump pressure must of been opening it up,might be wrong but no probs now!
