mk1 golf mods

hello
i'm very new to this and landed myself into the deep end of a project.
i was just wondering what engines and gearboxes would be ideal for a mk1 golf
i was looking at putting a VR6 engine into the golf but then i wondered if i could make it 4WD
what would be your suggestions to make all this work?

Pretty much anything can be achieved, depends how skilled you are, and how deep your pockets are. There is everything from 1.8/2l 16v conversions to VR6 and 1.8T, and even hyabusa or vtec. 4wd has been done as well.

As said above mate it's all been done before and depends on a whole host of things not least ££££.

Have a search through the forum as most are on here somewhere along with THIS which might help you.
