Mk1 golf help

Hi,
   I really like the golf mk1 and caddys, and am hoping to buy one as a first car, I was hoping to find basically the cheapest runner I can, I don't mind spraying and playing round with body work and interior, I was just wandering what sort of money I could pick up
A caddy or a gold for, and what engine size is best for insurance for a 17 year old

no matter what engine you buy the insurance will be expensive

would be best with a 1.1 or a 1.3 not sure if the caddy's came with those small engine sizes

a diesel may also be cheap enough to insure

not many diesel golf but most of the caddys were deisel

Yeah I guess I'm just gonna have to get saving haha
