Mk1 dilema...

I bought my GTI with all the best intentions, but the credit crunched shortly after I took out a big mortgage and I ran spectacularly out of disposable income. I fitted the coilovers over a year ago and she hasn't moved since…

She's an 82 in Mars Red, with a sunroof that was pretty much complete when I bought her. Apart from some electrical gremlins (indicators and wipers) and rusted arches she seemed ok. She does need welding aroung the front suspension mounts and will need a new passenger floor. I have stripped the interior completely, with plans to weld and paint, so she'll need to be re-assembled.

I've laid out for the coilies, and a second set of used alloys to get the offset right, as well as some heavy fibreglass wide arches.

Now my dilema: I've pretty much fallen out of love with the car and need to get her gone. I don't want to break her as there's not enough MK1's as is, but don't want to put any more money into her only to sell her.

So, do I break her, spend the money to do the bits needed and get her road-worthy again only to sell her, or try and off-load her as is?

Any ideas, advice or takers?  :dontknow:

if you genuinely have no interest in it anymore, then sell it as is and let someone who will get something out of it rebuild it.

my personal feeling is that i wouldnt want to buy a car in a "finished" state.
The bit i get the most out of is building it myself!

If you can keep it where it is, dont break it, too many get broken! (including one by myself recently ) if you have the space to store it, then keep it until you get a decent price for it.

I'd love to keep it and can now afford to, but I need the garage space as I'm planning on getting an S4 early next-year. And the missus hass said I can't have both.

I think I'm going to get her roadworthy and enjoy her for a bit before selling her.
