mk1 campaign, please read and help me

a little story here please read,7 yrs ago i heard of a mk1 gti campaign that was tucked away in a garage in the highlands here,my nose bothered me so i investigated it,anyway just last week i wondered was it still there and went to the owners door, and it was still there as it was before never really turned a wheel in the last 10yr or more,

so here is the details, and if someone could give me an idea of its value that would be lovely.

69k on the clock genuine

present owner since 1989

fully documented gti engineering RE 1900 conversion done at under 40k
costing 3600 back in 89,giving 142bhp

totally immaculate body on top and underneath, no rust at all anywhere
so much wax its weighing it down, the engine bay itself is almost golden colour with the amount of wax in there.

pioneer head unit i'm unsure if thats original but has a fitted amp to match
very period looking

interior as it left the  factory,no shrinkage in the carpet, seats like brand new,no rattles from the dash when driving, the only squeeking was from the parcel shelf.

This is a remareable car and i'm planning buying it,the only things i would say this car needed is.

new top mounts
2 front shocks
back box
but no doubt if it was to get used regular things would start to go wrong,
here's a few pics and it has original p slots to go with, these are wolfrace on it at the mo

also the car has been stored up on blocks on fibre mats with dehumidifiers "ETC"

looks really nice actually, try and get it for about ?1400, it is worth it by the look of things, especially being a gti engineering. It would be a good idea to see if you can readily source parts for it though, as it could be costly otherwise

go for it! :D

the pics show a car not in a garage but on a drive thats been scrubbed up. it obviously aint been stud for 10 years….. :|  as well as that theres another nice looking lhasa gti in background. whats crack? it dont really sound like one of them 'one in a million' finds?

It has to be near the ?2000 mark in my view, in that condition and with the RE engineered engine, I'd definatley pay that for it as a minimum……thats if I had the cash???

I have seen this car in the metal and there is only 1 word to describe it……pristine! There is not a bit of rust on top or underneath/bay,it was last on the road in 93 so it deffo needs a few bits doing running gear wise i'e shocks/most bushes/top mounts and brakes.

This is a perfect blank canvas but in my opinion all it needs are a few sublte mods to keep most of the originality of this fine specimen.

It has a GTI engineering RE1900 engine that has only covered in the region of 35k whereas the car has only covered 69k total.

All in all this car is IMO got to be valued around the 4k mark.

peace.

has the engine been run whilst it has stood ?  after 10years standing i wouldn't expect it to last long if you started racing around in it without a rebuild. still sounds a good car to buy but not sure on the 3k, maybe ?1800, expecting to change suspension, bushes, rebuild engine. ect

Mk1 2l TSR G60.  .getting. There twice as fast

Mk1 lhd diesel…….getting. There for half the cost

I would say you would be looking at a value of around the ?3,500 mark.

I think that the non standard engine/wheels and exhaust will drop the price for some buyers if it were original then i think you would be closer the ?4k mark.

I am sure that as its been sitting for so long you are going to find more bushes etc that will need replacing once its been used for a while. Still parts are cheap enough.

Good luck with it, it looks great.
