MK1 Cabby wolfsburg edition ??

Hi All Im new to the site and just bought a Mk1 cabby on a 86 C reg
Ive always wanted one and its a little belter
Ive given it a good clean up and got it nice n gleaming.
The thing i want to ask is ive been told by a few people supposedly in the know about vw that its a special edition wolfsburg one ?
It has a 3 spoke wolfsburg steering wheel and wolfsburg mats it also has a full leather iterior in black with green piping also with matching door cards.
I think the mats and steering wheel are after market parts but not sure about the interior. I want to get it reopolstered in a different colour but ive been told the interior is very rare ? Its in good condition but showing its age a little. Thing is i dont want to spoil the seats etc if they are rare id rather buy an old ruined interior of fleabay and get that recovered instead.

Any help n advise would be great from you guys as im sure this is the right place to be for info on the MK1

Cheers
Rich

Pretty sure the Wolfsburg edition was for the US market.  Looking at your car, it's been modified alot from standard sporting a complete clipper style bodykit which it wouldn't have had originally so who knows what else has been changed on it, the interior was probably a previous owners addition.

Nice car.

Rich, nice car! cant beat a nice white cabby in my opinion :-)

£450 for re trim that is a good price, could you put up the name and number of trimmers?

Hi Rich
The retrim guy is a friend of a friend he has his own buisness in huddersfield west yorks
He normally does motor bike seats and scooter retrims etc

£450 was for me to take the car and leave it with him for a week and he would remove/retrim and replace everything

Ill get his contact details and PM you not sure if price was mates rates or not as im not a mate not met him yet
Ive to go over and choose colour and pipping etc.

Hes busy with various retrims until end of Sept then i can get mine booked in cant wait

Cheers

Don't retrim that interior! Someone on here would love to have that black leather interior in their cabby. Sell it with a condition that who ever buys it, give you their interior and have that one retrimed. Or buy another standard cabby GTI interior and get that one re-done. It would be a shame to see it go to waste.

Just take the outer covers off and flog them, that way you wont need to move seats etc around and the covers would be easy to post out to a potential buyer.

£450.00 is well cheap especially if its leather, you would need a couple of hides minimum. Plus the labour. Bargain fella. Full re trim a grand upwards at most places depending on what you have.

Hi
the leather seat covers and door card covers will be for sale when i get mine recovered.
This will be happening next month or after christmas if i buy my wheels first.

Sooo if anyone wants to make me an offer thats fine.
Not sure what there worth was probably going to bin them once mine was recovered anyway.
There are no holes or rips that i have found.
Not sure on postage but if you want to collect or i could meet you helf way etc that would be fine.

Ill probably put an add in the for sale section when there ready to be sold or if anyone deffo wants them let me know and ill contact you when ready for collection. Got loads of pics i can post up if anyone needs a closer look.

Cheers
