Hi Ned,I might be getting another set of wheels aswell as the snowflakes as iv found a set of 7x15" bbs rd's that could look wicked aswell,im going to be looking for recaros for my car and then get the whole interior trimmed in grey tweed and original Wolfsburg special edition fabric so id be interested in seeing what you do with your car aswell.                                               cheers.

Yeah the bbs's would be nice. I'm still undecided on wheels, its either something a bit more classic like snowflakes maybe steels, or a set of 15x7 wheels or something a bit different. found a set of really nice 14x6 compomotive 3 piece splits, similar to cx350's in need of a bit of a refurb not too long ago, the guy didn't want much for them either just sadly didn't have the funds at the time, would have been really nice. Its just trying to find something nice in my small price range    the mk1 is my first car you see so trying to do the best i can with what money i have.

as for seats yours sound like they'll be top, looking forward to pics when they'll be done if you go with that. mine will be much more on the budget end but going for tweed too, been trying to find some nice grey or black/white small checked design fabric to replace mine as its shot.

cheers

hi ned,
yeah im looking forward to getting a hold of the wheels so that i can refurb them and then try and get the stance of the car spot on,i take it those compomotives were for sale on here? if so i saw them and i was tempted too:lol:,all i can say when it comes to getting nice wheels cheap is ebay is your friend and there are some seriously nice oldskool wheels for sale at not a lot of money now so definitely keep an eye out on there, yeah i know where your coming from with having the car as your first as the golf ive got now is actually my first on the road but i did have a mk1 cabby when i was 16 and had to give it to my dad who is now restoring it so when you say its not easy trying to do things cheap i know exactly where your coming from:lol:,yeah im actually looking forward to getting a hold of some recaros for the car and i might even go down the route of original fabric and nappa leather but who knows what will happen,im looking forward to seeing your car when you get it done, sounds like its going to be great wee mk1:).

cheers

Yeah they'll be nice, i like the bbs rd's, don't see many people running them either. Nah the compos were on ebay about a month ago, was really tempted by them but money stopped me, think i'm definitely going to look out for some more classic simple wheels if i can find some cheap that need a little refurb, just not too fond of my current ones, some old momo wheels, not sure what though never seen them before
ahright good to hear, i know just trying to make do with what i can and have really, the mk1 its self is fairly solid just a bit tatty with the paint and 'cosmetics', but might aswell make the interior look a lot nicer and find a nice set of wheels :)
yeah im sure you are, would love some recaros and they sound like they'll be really nice when done, looking forward to seeing pics when done, and cheers mate

hi ned,
sorry for the slow reply, ive had to cancel getting the RD's now as ive got a pretty major fault with the ignition system on my car and im now having to use the rd fund to sort that out:(, ive seen a few sets of 13" gotti splits go cheap on ebay that could look wicked on a mk1 and there oldskool cool if thats what your after?,momos were never that nice and were very 90's which is great if your into the whole 90's look thing but for a simple classic mk1 there just not right so if it was me personally id go for the compos like you said, gottis, oem vw 13" or 14" alloys and even some of the later mk3 wheels like the bbs's off a vr6 which would need adapters as there 5x100 but they look wicked and ive never seen them on a mk1:),making do is all that new drivers can do these days as it aint exactly easy to get behind the wheel and build up a car aswell seen as everything is rising in price and wages are staying the same which sucks:lol:,yeah my cars exactly the same the bodywork looks a little rat car but its solid too and the interior is ok but its not to my standards and im also running about with my dads 13" tarantula wheels from his cabriolet so definitely need to get wheels sorted out:lol:,my cars also coming off the road about july time as im upgrading to a 6n polo saloon/estate 1.6 8v engine as its a 100bhp motor and also has a crossflow head which means if i was to put bike carbs or webers on it the inlet would face the grille and get direct cold air which is ideall for power and i'll also be replacing and sorting a good few things:lol:,you got a build thread?

Hi mate sorry only just seen this, but that's a bit of a pain, you managed to get it sorted alright?
yeah i had seen so many nice 13's but just too small with the right looking tyres as wanted to keep same ride height/not mess up speedo and gear ratios, but new wheels arrived last week; a set of weller mattig ssf 15x7 et33 steels, probably won't be to everyones taste but i like them, perfect size for me really, and a lot nicer than my current momo's! need rubber for them though so can't fit them yet.
yeah exactly   it's finding the time for me too as started uni last year and the work just takes over everything! need to get it up for an mot so i can get it back on the road :P  yeah exact same, paint is pretty bad, few dents around the place, just pretty tatty really but it's still a mk1
engine conversion sounds like it'll be good, would love to do one myself to just a polo 1.4 16v or something along those lines, but insurance would be too much so gotta stick with the standard 1.1 for a bit

yeah not much of a 'build' thread though, just a few photos on there and stuff i do to it really
