Mk1 16v's

Anyone been down the strip and got times for their valvers? I'm just curious as my old clio 16v did 15.9 so i would like to see how much faster the 16v golfs are! Post your times here chaps!

oh yeah 0-60 times/ top speed too!

Can't remember if I achieved the 14.15 with the air filter or not, I know I removed it later on in the day. The engine is standard apart from KR cams, the fuel injection is a mix of 1800 GTI, Golf Mk2 16V, Audi and 1600 GTI parts, and the exhaust is a full Ashley system & manifold. No headwork, except to say the head was reconditioned during the conversion. The clutch is once again a mix of components (16V pressure plate, 8V friction disc) and the gearbox is the stock 1800 Mk1 box. The car underwent a little bit of lightening and streamlining but remained road legal. The biggest difference to the setup was being able to use the data off several previous runs from an Innovative LHM3 & LM1, this really helped to achieve the optimal fuel system setup.

Sweet! They are some real impressive stats! Is there any dash you can fit that goes above 120mph ?

why? if you reach 120mph you're going too fast! what does it matter if the car goes 130mph but the speedo doesn't show it?

You could just use a GPS unit, they read up to something like 600mph before they have problems. Do yourself a favour and get one with speed cameras in it, too.

To be honest, i very rarely go above 80 as i like to get some sort of good fuel economy!   It'd just be nice to know what sort of top speed it had if i was to find myself on an autobahn!
