mk1 16v problems

so i bought this a week ago and everything was fine ,but today i went for a bit of a drive and while starting to slow down after accelerating quite hard up to about 70 it just cut out and refused to start it turned over but would do nothing then it fired for a couple of seconds all it would do is tick over its as if its got no fuel in it i put some more in just encase but it has made no difference ive played around with the imobiliser box and chip from the original key thats just taped to the little reader thing and left behind the dash and now im a bit stumped any ideas or links to the wiring diagrams for the mk1 and the mk3 loom so i can start looking into things ?looks like the dash could be coming out tomorrow night to give me a fighting chance at seeing how its wired up .
