micra comparison..

clarkson just compared the new fiat (was it a fiat?!) to the original golf… hmmmmm i disagree…
but he was bigging up the mk1!!

Yes the new Fiat 500 A Bath.

Well he does love the mk1, who wouldt.

I dont like the fiat 500 normally, but the Abarth version looks peerty

Fiat have certainly done a better job that BMW did with the MINI.
I'm kinda biased though, got a soft spot for Fiats, and the Abarth looks pretty decent. Fiat's hot cars are always loads of fun!  8)

i watched that too and all it did is made me want an original one!  :dontknow:

i just dont know how yoou can cpmpare something new to something old.
i know it wasnt a bad comparison… just wasnt expecting it!

I thought it was good as he was saying that it reminds him of an early golf GTI. a Perfect small car

So even now, 30 years on they are still saying that the golf is great and are still using the golf as a comparison!

shame they havent responded to any of my emails yet tho otherwise we could have had a mk1 there for them to compare properly  

First thing I thought about the Abrath was "I wwonder if that'll fit in my cabby" haha.

To compare a 160 (ish) BHP car to a 112bhp 30 year old golf and say it drives almost as good (the fiat) is an amazing thing to say, great publicity for the MK1

Good old Jezza! The new 500 is pretty cool. I had a small Fiat as my first car….a 126 BIS, 704cc!  ops:  It was a laugh to say the least, so I can only imagine the fun of a new 500 Abarth  8O 'Poop' and 'stick' spring to mind…

Good comparison if you ask me. Small car, light, big power to weight.

There has been the odd mk1 on top gear you know  :wink: one was even driven by the Stig himself…
