it's an historical now!

My 1989 Cab, 20 years old now, here in Italy is an historical vehicle. I am now member of the ASI (www.asifed.it) and road taxes are only 25 euros (before it was > 200). Insurance should be around 100 (before approx. 400-500 for the very lowest risk category). How's the situation in the UK?

It used to be once 25 years old you got historic status and free road tax, but this wonderfull labour goverment changed it to pre 1973 cars so thats that.

Until the EU start taking over and changing our rules!  They have cars over 30 years tax free

true, my 1954 FIAT 600 is 100% tax free, regardless the historical status and the ASI membership.

In Italy they would like to change to >25 or >30, but those that have already gained the historical status should keep it. So my Cab should be safe.

BTW. to celebrate I have replaced the master cylinder and put new disks and new pads at the front brakes (wife still complains for the black dust around…) and decided to share with you this thing.

We should petition Mr Cameron, it's looking like he'll be the next PM  :dontknow: Try and persuade him 20+yrs should be the rule
