Is this a good example? Mk1 Golf Cab

Hi guys, got my heart set on buying a Mk1 Cab, and I'd really like a red one
so anyways, I found This one on ebay, Looks nice enough, but if I'm honest I'm a complete newbie to this, so if any of you more experienced guys have an opinion, let me know.
The white hood and the white interior really are the main selling points to me, I've haggled him down to £1600, is it a good deal ?

thankyou,
Nick

assuming it is as good as it seems then yes, thats not bad. although if he has it insured then i'd be wanting it taxed for that too. else you'll have to wait for the tax disc before you can drive it away!!!

The retrimmed interior and new roof will save you money in the long run, its got the potential to being a tidy little car, i'd say 1600 isnt bad

good luck, let us know how you get on

keep looking dude….avoid ebay….it's easier to look through obv. but, just means more folk see it and bid and put the price up etc.

Look in your local papers, autotrader etc.

And drive a car before you buy it…a nice long drive.  and whatever you do….read the buyers guide on here…it's gold.

I got my cabby off ebay last September and last week it sailed through its mot 1st time, yes its got a few issues but overall its a solid car. mine was a buy it now or best offer though so it couldnt be pushed any higher by bidders.

Ebay is a weird one, some folk are genuine and lots are out to sting you….I guess I got lucky cos the chap I bought it off was straight up with me with every question I asked.

Few ebay tips from me

If/When you decide on which car your would like to bid/buy then ask as many questions as you can possibly think about the car, if every question and I mean every question isnt answered then ask the same question again. Also ask for lots of photos.

Totally agree with WeeTony on taking a car out for a very long test drive, I did nearly 20 miles around the sellers hometown Gateshead lol.

Again agree with WeeTony. read the buyers guide on here. Print it off like I did and take it with you so you wont forget anything.

Take somebody with you and get them to read through the buying guide too just incase you do miss anything. I took my wife and she asked more questions than I did haha.

good luck

same as chap above m8, i got mine from ebay week ago, i hammered the bloke with questions and requests for photos, even when i turned i said to the bloke i hope you don't mind if i check its same car you sent pic's off, was polite and said no problms take ur time, i went round the car like you do, after wards the bloke even talked me round the car saying had i noticed this dink or mark, took me threw the hole car, even when i drove it he sat there silent so i could hear for knocks noises, top bloke he was

if you don't feel happy with the seller walk away becuase no matter what your gonna not like the car puts you on edge and you ned to feel relaxed or your miss things out and get it home and think what the hll i just brought

I got my cab off e-bay. It was only around the corner from me, so went to have a look at it. It had a starting price of a £1000 and I offered them £1300 to finish it there and then which they turned down as they wanted at least £1500 for it. Luckily for me, no-one bid at they hadn't set a reserve, so lucky my, I had it for a grand

We've had it and used it daily for about eighteen months and apart from the mods that I've done to it, all it's needed has been an exhaust down pipe and a wheel bearing……

my cabby has a small but nasty bump in the rear corner when I picked it up, but the roof has been retrimmed so I couldnt help myself…
A few hours of sweat and tears and you can do miracles with bodywork…
Just make sure you buy one, you wont regret it!

E-BAY

Me too - got mine off e-bay - Paid £695 complete gamble but at that point I even worked for Autotrader and was finding nothing and seemed to be getting jibbed for about 18 months before I said to my hubby - oh I'm just having that car!!

Turned out good after some work to it.
