Is it original?

I am new at this! Just bought a golf mk1 gti 1800 1983 model.Would like to know if this model came out with single or double headlights? as I want to keep it as original as possible. Cheers!

I've an 83 GTI has no red trim and only 2 lights from standard, only thing that wasnt an extra was the black GTI badge

(so i've been told anyways)

Mine is a gti and wiring from factory is set up for single lights…

I'm sure it was Campaigns that were spots on centre's and earlier ones were optional!!!

Think Campaign centres were fogs (like Drivers).

Thought we had this debate ages ago and decided all factory tintop extra lights were fogs.

Pre '83 Campaign GTIs didn't come with centre lights as standard but most had them spec'd as factory options (fogs) or fitted by the dealer (spots)?

I put mine back to singles like in the avatar thingy

Just trying to help out, mine from what i can see has always only ever been 2 lights, no spots…

My Driver has the centre lamps wired to the factory loom & works off fog switch… :dontknow:  

campaigns and drivers had fogs gti had a option of extra driving lamps operated by the main beam and the wiring is normally fitted to all

Campaigns, Drivers and GXs had fog lamps as standard.

Spot lamps were not a factory option, but a dealer fit accessory.

long and the short of it, it's just fine how it is. if you prefer a single lamp jobbie, it'll just fine like that too.
