is it ok to do this

need to put my mk1 track project on its side but i dont have a chassis tilt so was thinking if i strip to a bare shell then get an old matress  to roll it on bit crude i know but will this damage te chassis by doing it??

You'll invariably leave dents in the side. Just push your hand on the C pillar, for example. And the door skins. Best idea would be to cobble together some kind of rotisserie which picks up at the bumper mounts. Something like 1?" square steel section, would do the job.

duvet and pillows not help to then

i was going to remove the doors ect to make it as light as possible hmm time for a rethink then

This looks fairly simple to bolt together.  Don't know if this is something you could use.
