Try Footman James on a classic policy (on the left of this reply - you may need to scroll down).  In order to get the discount it will probably be worth becoming a member.  Probably the discount will pay the membership plus loads of other discounts available… have a look it's up to you  :dontknow:

I used compare the market this year and it's less than £130 for the year! 5k miles, 1988 cabby, I'm 33 years young :)

Coyote is that as a daily driver or second car?

There is a few insurance companies on the panel on the left.

You will get a better if your under a classic policy.

these come with various restrictions, such as how many miles you are allowed to do and having another car as the one insured cannot be a daily driver.

So check with the company what limitations apply.

Good news is you can get an garuanteed valuation as opposed to the general market rate, should the unfortunate happen. You can also have salvage rights also, so you can buy it back if you wanted.

Try Peter Best, they wiped the floor with all the other insurance companies for me.

I also got a Club Membership discount too.

I am 29 and when I insured my 1988 cabriolet GTI last year I was 28 and I paid about £400 through Adrian Flux who sub brokered it to Chaucer Insurance. This is a classic policy with a 3k miles limit.
The reason it is a high price is because it's the first year of vehicle ownership and I'm under 30.
Footman and James only insure over 30s, I have tried before on another car I own.
If you get your cheaper let me know so I know for next year.

As I have put out there Peter best for me.
Sorry Dan, Adrian Flux policies have risen a lot for me and become highly uncompetitive.
All ways had good service from you though.

Mate, I tried Adrian Fux last year and they were nearly twice as much as Footman James. They wanted nearly £300! In the end got it for £156 all agreed. I need to renew my insurance on the 1st of March. Wont be trying them for a quote!

But like you said, nothing wrong with the service.
