Right….have an ok running gti in that it starts first time, runs from cold ok and starts from hot too!
Was away for a week and started the car for the first time in 7 days or so, it started first time no problems etc and drove fine.
Parked it up in direct sun and left if for 3 hours, came back and it did not want to start, but after a bit of turning over it fired ok, drove home and stopped, tried starting it again and all was ok..
Possible theory is that the heat made the fuel evaporate hence the reluctance to start untill more fuel got to the cylinders?
am I right or do I have yet another issue!?
Cheers

Had this same problem a few years ago with an XR3i, the RAC man told me that where it was sitting in the sun and getting hot it caused one of the sensors to overheat, don't know if this is correct or not but that's what I was told.

I had exactly that the other night. Ran all day - as usual without a blip and after picking up a takeaway I returned to the car and it wouldn't start.
It took a few turns with a risk of flattening the battery but it went eventually.
Food was still warm!!!

Mine does this most of the time if its been sat in the sun after a drive.
I put it down to "fuel evaporation" asways starts so im not bothered
about it too much.

always a good idea to fit a replacement fuel pump relay if any problems starting, they fail so often everybody should carry a spare in the glovebox anyway.

Just looked at my relay for the fuel pump and I have an 18 rather than a 2 so will go shopping tommorow!
