I have a leak....
Just wondering if any on has experienced a leaking mk1?
The floor on my golf is soaking wet and is coming from underneath the carpet if that makes sense.
Its starting to worry me as we cant work out where it is coming from.
Any ideas folks?
Thanks

Possibly rotted floor pan if it's coming from directly underneath?
Or is it coming from underneath the car but towards the front, i.e. in front of your feet/back of the bulkhead?
Don't drive through puddles?

is the water coming in from behind the bulk head and leaking down? could be the drain holes at the sides of the scuttle are blocked, it's common, just make sure all the drain holes are clear.
Or carpets up to inspect the area, dry out and then sprinkle talc around the areas, you will ususally see tracks where the water has flowed.
hope you get it sorted.

the most favorite for this is the 2 rubber grommets plugs ether side of the scuttle panel these allow water that collect in the scuttle to flow down and out they are rubber and have a cross rubber gaiter the problem is they get bunged with leaves and crap then the water cant soak away and then finds a small crack and dribbles down into the floor pan from behind the dash and the carpet acts like a wick drawing the water to the bottom
check these plugs and you may find they are clogged..

I have cleaned the rubber grommets as they where full of grime and the puddle on the passenger side appears to be slowly disappearing.
I also attempted to dry out the carpets with my hair drier which was a lengthy task.
Thanks for the advice guys! I really appreciate it
