How to get the new headliner up properly. Need a hand or guide please!

A and C pillars went on beautifully. I had the windows out and the new headliner with all the old rods in on my dining room table ready to go.

Then when it comes to fitting it the rods seem too close together and when I tension one end the other pops off etc, I just couldn't get every rod in without and one or two popping straight out. Especially the front section seems like it needs to be stretched hell of a lot to get to fit!

Do the black end clips need to be perfect/brand new? 

Has anyone got a guide or some advice for me? Want to get this completed on the weekend!
