how rare is helios blue

as the title says,

are there many helios blue campaigns out there, just wandering weather it was a popular colour when it was introduced

see a few about dont think its that rare, but i am sure someone on here will give you figures when they read your post  

Not sure where I've read it, but remember seeing the figure 156 for number of blue UK Mk1's Campaigns sold. Not sure if this is totally accurate or how many are about now though.
(I've got one by the way !)

That's only how many of us lot have registered our cars though. Doesn't reflect how many were made. Enthusiasts more likely to search out / restore something rare like an Atlas Grey car and therefore more of them get registered here.

Maybe it's an unlucky colour and more Helios blue's have been scrapped/written off!  8O

Helios cars seem to be rarer, as with grey ones, or lhasa green, i doubt even VW would know how many helious were made?
You are probably right though, sometimes the "rarer" colours get saved and restored for that very reason, and they are that little bit different and maybe more sought after sometimes?
Inari silver is a rare colour but copper brown mettalic is the rarest of them all as it was only a German market colour, its a realy nice light bronze colour

they are quite rare. not as rare as atlas grey mind you. the main reason is that black, white, red etc… were available on gti's pre campaign. helios blue and atlas grey were not available pre campaign. i'm sure some one will point out some discrepency there but is mainly the reason for the rarety.

I owned a 1982 pre campaign golf in helious blue.  I owned it for 14 years and I am now trying to find some information on it.  The reg was TJM 822Y, it was featured in Volkswagen Audi Car mag in the early 1990's.

Personal import? Loads more colours were available on continental GTIs.

Yes I believe it was an import by someone in the armed forces.  It was a pretty special car, i sold it in 2003 and am interested to know if its still around.
