Diesel auto must be a terrible combination with so little power! Works ok on bigger cars, but they always tend to be on the "comfortable" side rather than "sporty".

I'm 99.9% sure VW never offered it as an option, although its possible to achieve with the right combination of parts.

Years ago there was one on ebay with parts from a Caddy to convert to manual transmission. Pretty sure auto Diesels would have been available on the continent. The UK got a very restricted range of models compared to what was available in the fatherland.

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

that look  very nice

it is possible that vw did a diesel auto in Europe

diesels were not popular in this country as in them days deisel did return much of a saving, so people bought small petrols

It doesn't look anything like that now tho. My bf thinks it's a south African import being right hand drive. It says on the v5 that's it was previously registered abroad . Will take some pics of what it looks like now up soon.
