have been to see a mk1 1.3 driver completely standard apart from a webber carb, gti 9 spoke wheels and a glass sunroof. The bodywork is very good no rust in usual places few trim bits need replacing ie front bumper t+t full history anyone know how much its worth the guy is asking for ?1000 and is not open to offers is this a reasonable offer? cheers

make an offer anyway, then he will up it a bit, unless he says a good price tell him you will think about it, play cool and you should get it for under a grand. :?

If you've already seen the car then its a bit late for this, but you should have asked what he wanted before taking a good look, then noted down all the small/tiny faults you find. If you honestly can't find any small faults, then its worth ?1000. If you do, then its a great bargaining point. Looking at it from the other side, if I were the seller of a ?1000 car I'd not want people deliberating over it for weeks and weeks, I'd be expecting them to say yes or no or start haggling. Its not a lot of money for some people, you could end up losing out on the sale…

i have looked at it and did make a list but the seller wasnt interested in the faults i found tbh but thanks for the help

Did he mention or list the faults before you spotted them (or in the ad), or did you discover new faults?
