How much is my MK1 worth?

Hiya all.

I've got a mars red South African imported rhd 1.3 5 door. Its in truly fantastic condition with a little over 100,000 miles on the clock. Its on a J plate. I, my ex and my cousin have owned it since about 2001.

It drives like a dream and hasn't had any changes from its original state. Some of you around wigan might have seen it when i was living in Parbold. Ive got loads of service history, its had three owners from new that i know of, tax and mot till jan/feb 2008. Oh yeah, big bumpers and steel wheels.

It really is in fantastic condition with the only the tiniest bubbles around the seams in the engine compartment.

Unfortunately, its looking like i'm going to have to sell it soon, along with my 1969 vw westfalia pickup and my 1962 morris. i can't afford to keep em all on the road and since i moved, i can only store one of em. its a real shame!
Anyways, i was wondering if any of you have an idea what i should expect to get for it?  :dontknow: cheers

What someone is prepared to pay. The values of mk1s seem to have taken a nose dive recently, good mk1s are going for peanuts on ebay. One GTI went on a ?750 buy now so  :dontknow:

No idea? I could not believe that MK1 Golf GTI went on a ?750 buy now. Could it be something to do with the price of petrol?

Petrol's only gone up incrementally. I bought one for ?800 with full MoT. Without seeing it, you can't say it was worth more (or less) than ?750. So you can't really use one isolated sale as an example. If you've seen several it would be a trend. Also, do you know the actual transaction price, or are you watching auctions in progress? Or auctions/sales which have ended but never go through? etc etc You can take prices on eBay with a pinch of salt!

I don't think Citi golfs are worth loads, but it depends on what the buyer is looking for really. Have you seen any other Citi golfs for sale that you could compare against?

I've only seen one citi for sale he wanted abou ?300 but the front end was very smashed in. I'll post some pics up soon and decide on what i want for it.

I'm  sure its got far less rust than anything i've seem so far, has tax and mot and is in full, and i mean full, working order.

I must admit when I spotted it on ebay someone had already hit the buy now button. I guess it was a real bargain as the break up value would be close to the buy now price.

Just goes to show, that if you want to buy a car off ebay you need to constantly check for new adds.
