How Much is my car worth?

Hey fellow VW fanatics.

Firstly, I just want to point out that I know nothing about cars therefore need some advice now and probably in the near future.

Can anyone estimate the market value of my car for insurance purposes. My car has just passed its first MOT in 7 years. I know shocking! But its been off the road. Details are as follows.

1986 VW Golf GTI cc Cabr. (apparently only 500 were made)
White
~56000 miles on the clock.

Also I need to buy and fit a new hood, so if you can recommend a place in the Kent area or neighbouring counties I would be very grateful..

Can't really say without assessing the condition, etc. If it has full MoT though, probably around £800-1200, also bearing in mind it needs a new hood.

got my hood fitted by car hood warehouse in chessington not to far from you, was very happy with the job  

If its a genuine CC and in tidy order with no rust and undamaged CC logo'd interior and roof (which yours won't have soon) I'd say up to £3,000+. If in average condition, rust scabs here and there, worn drivers seat bolster etc £1,000+

I have a CC in goof-average condition.  Couple of surface blemishes, worn bolster, interior needs re-setting but is all present.  I've got an agreed value of £2000 with no quibbles - which is what I paid for it.  Thinking of raising it to £2500-£3000 if possible the next time my premium is due.

Sounds like a nice motor.
