J reg sportline with a genuine 12.400 miles from new,YES 12.400 miles from new 1 owner history immaculate there again it would be wouldnt it.

a cars is worth what you want to pay

some cars can be overpriced but if your willing to pay it then it shouldnt be a problem

Its worth………….whatever someone will pay for it! Its easy to say a value, but these are people who don't have that kind of money lying around and won't be buying your car. So its easy to become overconfident and expect more than you attain, when selling. There's no price guide for cabbys, which is a shame, I think it would be a handy thing to have.

I get the feeling that this summer, there's lots of cabbys (and hatchbacks) remaining unsold, due to the unseasonal weather we've had so far. So maybe it would be worth waiting until next year and it would make a better price?

Looks like it would suit a collector of some kind,

It looks nice and mint,

Would have been nice to be old enough to drive and to have had enough money to be seen driving it out of the show room when first built

hi chaps,cars not for sale at the moment anyway,i just needed to know how much it would be worth as i found it advertised for sale in the local ad mag,thought it was a misprint about the mileage but i was wrong it is correct so i bought it,which now means i have to sell my mint white cabrio,the sportline was bought new in this country in 1992 then drove to marbella spain for the owner to use while on holiday( i believe he has a villa there) hence the low mileage then it was brought back acouple of years ago by the owners son then covered with a tarpualin would you believe which has left a few marks, any way car is in unbelievable rust free condition as you can see although there is a few marks on bodywork and i dont think it has ever been polished since new,iam thinking about having it totaly resprayed i think it warrants it to make it A1,or and by the way its a real peach to drive  AAA+++++WOW :lol:

might be interesting to do some tests on such a low mileage lump, like compression testing, fuel pressure test and maybe rollin road,
just to get an impression on what such an engine is putting out

Would you consider part exchange for wife? OK its got higher miles than yours but not a bad runner. The seat is a bit saggy and worn but quite comfy, it could do with a respray, as it doesn't look as good with the top pulled down as it did . The big ends are knocking a bit, but it doesn't smoke at all although it tends to drink quite alot. I feel it may need the balancing looking at as it soon goes off on a wobbler if you try and put your foot down.
I have over the years spent LOTS and LOTS of money on it although its hard to see where?.
It starts first thing in the morning and will go on and on and on till bed time.
I have considered a newer model but i feel the newness would soon wear off and would prob cost me a fortune over time.

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

I would attempt to restore the paint back to glossy wet look before I decided to go for a full respray, unless money is no object.  I'm sure someone would notice the respray, and then it just becomes another MK1 with a respray. IMO

I agree that it's best to keep it with original paint

if it's been resprayed it might make some people question the authenticity of the milage etc

put some pics up of the bad areas, you'd be amazed what results can be gained with a good mop and polish  :wink:

You could simply get a restorer/spray shop to treat the paint for you instead of the re-spray.  You may not have the time/products or the knowledge on how to do it to a high standard,  but someone will and it will only cost a few bob, and it will keep it original :D
