How many problems can one car have?

Hey all, seems like I'm getting good at posting these "please help me!" posts
I had a problem with my piersburg carb and decided to rebuilt it "with the help of a mechanic" he told me that the carb would now run right and I'd be able to drive it

BUT

When I looked my choke cable now works in reverse "pull it out to turn choke off push in the turn choke on" as well as this there is no real tension in the throttle cable and it is fully adjusted to be tight…. When I turn the car on it sits at 3k rpm and iv noticed it blowing lots of White smoke out the back end I thought this may be condensation as it's been sitting for a month now however it's a lot of smoke so got me a bit worried it's burning some general rubbish off from under the carb which is causing it to smoke I'm so confused what this could be I thought maybe air leak so changed all my cables to braided cables but still does it
So please help me!

The slack in the cable can be adjusted on the cable at the rocker cover bracket. cant help on the choke but it sounds like its not been put back together correct
