How many owners!!

Hi all just thought i'd ask all you guys how many owners your tintops have had, so i can gauge what is the norm and what is exsesive, and do you consider that a high number of previous owner is something that should be avoided? looking forward to your replys, thanks

bearing in mind your car is at least 24 years old, it will have had many owners.

mine had (according to the lad i bought it off) 3 'last time i checked'  :dontknow:

yeah but what is many owners? where do you draw a line, my bro's has 7 previous my mates has 5 previous, i've looked at some on ebay you are talking 12 -17 previous on some mk1's thats around 1 owner ever 1.5 years. but is that normal for the age they are?

Mines had 1 previous owner. Im the second 1

6 for me ,but i have had it for 5 years now

3 and the last one had it for 21 years

My 1990 clipper has 3 aswell

im the 2nd owner of a golf 1983 only 70K on the clock

my 1983 golf, im the 3rd owner, 90k when i picked it up in Nov04.
my 1981 jetta, im the 3rd owner, 49k when i picked it up in sep06 (used as dailey, so its on 68k now)

but i guess thats y ther still around, my jetta was left in a garage for 8/9years, and my golfs been hiding in my garage for almost 4years now.

Mine is 4 owners inc myself, 2 in SA and 2 UK, and shes only 11

mine is 3 former keepers but is a late 1988 cabby.

I think if I looked at a car with 10,11 or above owners Id just be extra cautious as to why its being moved on. Might be genuine ie a run of owners who bought for weekend and circumstances changed. But on the other hand may be due to some recurring issue, condition is king.

well my caddy has had 3 that i know of including myself. my wifes 79 has had 4 and my 79 2dr i know of at least 3.

13th owner of one and 7th of the other!

I'm the 4th owner on my 5 dr, was the 13th on the GTI and the 8th on the old cabby

9th owner of an 83 gti

83 mk1 jetta 32k on the clock with history, and i'm the 7th owner
88 mk1 caddy 165k  and i'm the 13th owner

3rd owner on GTI @175,000
2nd on cabrio @75,000

im no.9 mines got 265k on the clock and counting!

My 1983 GX, has had 1 previous owner (for 24 years). 89k.
