Houndstooth seat fabric

Hey guys

I have a 1977 mk1 polo with this houndstooth interior!



This fabric was also used in some Beetle models, but was it used in mk1 Golfs?
If so, has anyone on here managed to get hold of the original material, and if so where?
If not, does anyone know where I could get something very similar?

I seem to remember back in the day (late 80's) a guy in my town had an orange coloured Golf driver, think it was a 1980/81 it had houndstooth check interior just like the one in your picture.

Let me check but think I've got a set of those seats I may sell! I want s1 Gti and my 79 came with those seats instead. 

The s1 driver seat material is slightly different to this. I searched ages for it. ended up having to import some from Germany. 'porsche hounds tooth' it was called.

Thank's mate, I checked the Porsche one out last year, and is totally different.
I'm hoping I've sourced some now, I'm waiting for a sample from the States.

Iv'e come across a company in the States that can supply OEM quality and durable car seat fabric, I'll let you know if the sample is any good when it arrives!

Just had my seats redone in the cabby in houndstooth faces and black leather for a slight retro look.
