Hi Folks, I need your advice and opinion.

I have recently purchased 1981 mk1 1.6 d. Car has no interior, windows, steering wheel no parts at all but runs very sweet and smooth.
only 119.000 original kms. No rust at all, it hasn't been repainted or anything. Took it to the mechanic and there's no putty on the car at all. Now, since i have two mk1's now, my lhasa green is going to be built as show car and i will make a "sleeper" out of another one. So i want your advice and opinion. What would you rather put in mk1 : vr6 or 1.8 20v Turbo engine ?
Thanks for the advices .

I'd agree - go with the 1.8 20V…

Thanks people. Your advices really helped me. I have read about vr6 conversions and a lot of mechanics wrote that vr6 is too heavy for mk1. I'll keep on looking for propper 1.8 ( from 150 to 180 bhp) then map it to more horses. I am thinking about buying an audi engine ? what do you think ?

Yeah i know. A3 and TT are perkier cars than A4 and A6s. I'll probably look for BAM or AUQ. Then mapping and hours of surfing for more horses…
Cheers

Ajq is the better engine as it hasn't got the vvt (only for emissions) or use a early agu as there good for 300 bhp before going bang

I only meant BAM for ease of power. I Would go for AGU myself tbh

20vt or G60 in a mk1 mate.

VR6 even feels nose heavy in my mk2.  8O

I think i'll go with 1.8 20vt from golf, audi or seat. BAM code. It's bit more expensive though but it's worth it.
Mate, i already have one diesel powered mk1. They are both in my garage. I have also read about turbo kits for this type of engines. Do you have any expirience about mapping, turbo and tuning up the performance ?

Anything would be better than a deisel, keep them for agricultural vehicles. That is just my opinion.  :D
