Golf Mk1 Karman!!!!!!!

Hi, Was wondering if anyone can tell me how you can tell the difference between a genuine VW cabriolet mk 1 karman and a mk 1 cabriolet gti?

I have bought a mk 1 cabriolet gti but have just noticed karman badges on the wings?  New to this, so any help would be appreciated!!

All mk1 cabriolets are Karmans.

Apparently, Coco Chanel's middle name is "Karmann", which goes some way to explaining the mystery.

Karmann are a German coachbuilder who specialise in more complex car designs that cannot be as easily assembled on the standard factory production line (generally cabriolets/sports coupes). A lot of the jobs will be hand finished and the cars are built on contract for the main manufacturer.

Karmann Ghia's, Karmann cabriolet beetles, Corrado's (with the ebay 'RARE Karmann interiors') , Golf cabby's and more recently the Chrysler Crossfire have been built by Karmann.

Well said..........But where do the cars get painted at Karmann or VW? this is a querie of mine not a dig btw.

Karmann had a very extensive paint shop.

I'd say Karmann, otherwise they'd have to assemble the bodies, transport them to Wolfsburg for paint, then back to Osnabruk (sp) for final assembly of interiors/roofs etc.  :dontknow:

Not many people know that Karmann was founded by a robot made of old car parts, known locally as Car Man.
