I will post some photos up once I've picked it up (next saturday providing the bloke can find the V5)
It looks right in what I think is Pargus Blue with silver GTI stripes - its running a set of p slots which I have got the vendor to keep as part of the deal - I want it as standard as possible.
I just want to be sure that it is a genuine "driver" by checking the equipment list, exterior colour choices and trim patterns / colours. Also its good to have a visual reference when you're trying to get something back to the way it was when it left the factory
It won't be a disaster if its not as the bodywork is excellent!

Interior…Black doorcards, speaker door pockets, mirror adjustment knobs, Gti centre console with blanking plate, black and white checked seats (pretty sure these are standard no matter what the exterior colour) - more luxurious shape and cloth quality than Golf C's with a slightly different pattern - not buckets though), black carpet, fag lighter, unsure about gearknob - seen Drivers with normal ones and with Golf balls, Gti style 4 horn button steering wheel (should have 'Golf Driver' in the centre)
Exterior…Black plastic arch spats all round, 'Golf Driver' badge front and rear, twin headlamp grille (no red or chrome strips), thick plain black plastic side strips, black or silver Gti style side decals, small chin spoiler, steel wheels as standard, unsure if front grille VW roundel is black or silver (seen both on Drivers), chunky Gti style mirrors, no A pillar spats, no rear hatch black decal.
Can't think of anything else. Not sure what would have been an 'option' at the dealers though - certain things (like the wheels) may have been changed. I've got a sneaky suspicion all Golf Driver seats should be like this no matter what colour the paintwork is though (even blue ones):
Hope some of this helps, but I wouldn't assume it's not a genuine Driver if anything's not as above - previous owners will have no doubt 'upgraded' things and replaced bits over the years to their taste (i.e - the wheels).

Thanks for this it certainly looks like I've got what it says on tin!
Where did you get the photo of the trim - it looks bang on -Is it for sale? - I'm looking for a front seat trim with the driver side bolster in tact - the one I've got is slightly worn.
Also looking for the original 5.5" steel wheels
Thanks

But ( thankfully? ? ) has a black dashboard and centre console.
If your driver is an '83 one, I think it should have the 5J wheels, not the 5.5's, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable about such things will correct me/put me in my place shortly.
