im lookin ata mk1 that the owner says is gold on the the book, did vw make a gold gti?

I think I've only seen Gold Drivers. But couldn't the colour have been updated on the logbook after a re-spray?

I think Rustysmk1 had a gold mk1, but I can't remember if it was GTI. Might be worth PM'ing him.

Well, here in South Africa, the gold GTI's came only in 1984, not sure about the Euro spec

Mega Rare: Senegal Red, Rose Pearl Metallic, Platinum Diamond Metallic, Oak Green Metallic, Diamond Copper Brown Metallic

Very Rare: Anthracite Metallic, Black Metallic

Rare: Atlas Grey

Inari Silver Metallic is not really that rare especially in Europe due to it being available most of the GTi's lifetime.I was interested as mine's Oak green, anyway, here's the thread - The Mk1 Golf Owners Club

could of had a colour change and logged with dvla, used to be easy enough to change colour on V5, or a special order :dontknow:

About 3yrs ago,i was looking at a gold Golf Mk1 GTI at the VW Automuseum in Wolfsburg.It was an 83 1800.I did have a couple of pics of on my phone,i will have a look to see if they are there!I had a good look around it and it certainly did look like it was original.

Gold driver came to a meet last week, 1983 A plate totaly original & very nice…but wasn't a gti  

theres a gold gti shell on ebay looks factory to me sadly these no room at the for another

I've seen a gold GL in Lostock Hall, Preston for years. 5 door with extra spot lamps!!!  

aaah i think that was my golden golf in lostock hall. r.i.p it set itself on fire at the traffic lights going to deepdale retail park it was a sad sad day

Mine was originally a driver, the gold is named "sand metallic" there is a very similar gold like colour but it's slightly darker.

This one looks gold to me.
