gearstick pushes down too far?

hi chaps… so when depressing the gearstick (like you would to engage reverse), it depresses too far and will not engage any gear. There must be some sort of bump stop (?) that is missing - hope this makes some sense.

If i pull the stick up to its extreme, and then push down slightly i can select gear correctly - anybody else had this problem?

I did.

I used another collar for the bottom of the gear stick to stop it from pushing down so far.

Used a collar I got in my gear shift refurb kit.

Bit strange as it only started happening when I'd refurbed all my linkages.

All spot on now though. If you get stuck let me know, I may have some pics to help.

Good luck.

Same as the above mate, I had to put an extra collar on, did the trick

Mine did the same shortly after I used a refurb kit, it turned out to be the top circlip had slipped from the groove it should be located in. Its the first one you see when you remove the gear stick gaitor.
