Gauges

Did any of the mk1 GTI's come with Gauges near the gear stick.

I know this sounds like a really dull question but never experianced the Golf before and about to buy one and still got a lot to learn about them. So sorry ops:

always had rear wheel oldies like MK2 escorts and datsun (more my dad)

AFAIK they're dealer-fit accessories. Unsure if the series 1 GTIs had an oil temperature there, as standard - maybe someone can confirm? And possibly series 1 GLSs had a clock there as standard?

I think pre-MFA one's mostly had the oil temp one present

i have a 79 gti and it has one that says cells and a clock so pretty boring realy

I broke a 79GTI which was totally rotten which had an oil temp and a clock in the cntr console,the same guy had the car from new and the wiring didnt look like someone had just put them in.Dont know if this helps anyone!!
