Full respray quote

I had a quote for a full respray for my car today at 1250 to include new bonnet, is it worth it or should I keep the cash and buy a tin top? :dontknow:

What he said.

Assuming you're not doing the prep/stip etc yourself, then I'd say it might be a bit expensive…

i charge  around 2k  for a full repaint  this would include any   other welding  repair work on the shell  and the whole thing pretty much stripped to a shell

I will be stripping off all the parts that I can.  Around one of the back lights needs repaired and possibly welded and there's one or 2 light dents to fill on the back wing. Looking like you all seem to see this as a resonable quote then? Maybe there is advantages to living in the back of beyond after all?!

id want to se work he has done before, and possibly speak to peeps hes done work for  8)

As above defo see what he has done before and see if he will take pics of the progress so you can keep it for ref later if you sell it or insurance company needs any proof. also ask what after sales guarantee he offers ie if paint bubbles in tiny places etc etc what will be free and what will he charge for, when I had a respray I had about 2 years cover for any defects/bubbling.

Other than that sounds good defo check out his other work !!!

He showed me an old Porsche he restored and painted. He did a fantastic job on it, the paint finish was like glass. He comes across as being extremely proud of his work and his garage is well organised and tidy. I think he is genuinely in it for the satisfaction side of it but I guess the cash is a bonus! I had a lot of work done on my MR2 at another garage here and it cost me a lot of money to have it all welded up just for me to find they had done a very shabby job and only did it for the money! They had not welded completely around the patches which were left with gaps round the corners and they had then sprayed black undersealant stuff over the top of it. They hadn't taken care to mask anything so now there's black spray all over my alloys and half way up the side of the car, NOT A HAPPY BUNNY!!

The bloke who is gonna paint my golf is well know locally and there's a waiting list for jobs at his garage. He can take my car in in July at the earliest.
Taking pics of the progress is an excellent idea, never thought to do that.
I think the man thinks I am mad having an old car re sprayed although he never said that!

That price is quite cheap but can easily be done for a 1 man band.
I would save up and buy a tintop though, just my oppion

From what you said there its all good, allways better that he has  people queing up for him to work on their cars, to me that comes across as his work is worth waiting for !
