Fuel cat -DOES IT WORK???

HI,
I usually put v max in our golf cabrio gti,but we were approached yesterday by a guy at the petrol station who is the stockist for fuelcat, alters fuel and protects your engine,so you can use 94 ron unleaded, does anyone here know if it works?
or even better have the system fitted. Please take a look at the website.Theres seems to be savings to make, and benefits to daily running, engne protection!they cost about ?50 fitted, doesnt seem bad when v max is usually 7p a litre dearer.

I've always been dubious about claims like Fuelcat's.  If its such an amazing system, how come its been around for 16 years and its the first time I've heard of it?  Maybe I'm just being cynical :dontknow:

Surely that reduces mpg,and can cause top end damage, exhaust emissions a problem or not?

Being a bit cynical here, but when you click on 'test results' and it says a bloke had one fitted to his ferrari.

fuel cat said

Being a computer entreprenuer with over 20 years experience in computing, the owner wanted to back up his confidence in Fuel Cat with scientific computer analysis. A rolling road test was performed immediately before fitting the Fuel Cat. And a few days later at Castle Combe race circuit the Ferrari performed magnificently.

Erm, surely the best way of doing it would be to dyno the car immediately before and after then show both results.
So it was put on a rolling road, and?
Then fuel cat was fitted and it 'performed brilliantly'

Wow, that 'computer entreprenuer' must have had peace of mind after seeing all that concrete proof. Seeing as 20 years experience (of buying and selling) computers qualifies him to guaranteee this system.

Also the fact the bloke came up to you in a petrol station seems to sugest something to me.

Maybe I'm just too cynical?

Yradave says relax.

Sorry chaps, but proven time and again to be a load of waffle by Car Mechanics mag and Practical Classics.
How a tube full of balls changes the molecular structure of unleaded is yet to be proven………….
In short,crap.

    seconded, its like the bloke on ebay selling "magic chips" claiming to give G60 and VR6 engines 15 bhp gains, its a load of twoddle, all you need is a decent set of spark plugs, new cap, rotor arm, oil and filter, air filter, the timing checked and set if req and mixture adjusted correctly, that is all you need for a smooth running engine if its sound to start with, and you would get change from ?100 for the parts and that work to be done on a mk1 8)
