Fornt strut insert????

Post

Hi all,
At the risk of sounding very thick!!??!!
I have just ordered a set of strut inserts for my mk 1 clipper (93). I have also now just pulled my original struts and the original housings have oil and the plunger assembly as part of the strut. Am I right in thinking I just drain the oil and discard the plunger then insert the new damper insert?
I am used to air cooled VW's and they use torsion front beams (no  struts)

Cheers

Si

Yes, but you need to re-fill the strut with either oil or glycol in order to help dissipate heat. Measure what comes out and re-fill with that amount.

Sorry I don't follow that, maybe im being thick, if you refill with the amount that was previously in there it will just overflow when you put the insert in.

Sorry I didn't read the post properly. You fit the new damper insert but add approx 50mm of oil or glycol.. Hope that read better.
