FLO-FLEX, what are your thoughts?

Post

I'm gathering parts for my project and iv been looking at polyurathane bushes and i can't help wondering why you would pay all the extra money for powerflex bushes when a brand called flo-flex offers them for a lot less.
Sometimes you get what you pay for, but after reading some reviews there are mixed views on them.
Has anyone used them with success or have they made the ride worse!!!??!
Any comments or experiences would be cool

Cheers

bare with me, im new to this!

Have used Flow Flex on early Series Land Rover, Ford Escort MK1 and VW MK1. Have also used much more expensive units, cannot tell the difference, they fit and wear equally well. Pete.

2 tintops.
3 cabbies, 1 with G60 power, just for fun.
Volvo T5, just for fun.
3.1Ltr V6 Dutton Leggera, just for fun.
Renault 5 GT Turbo, just a money pit!
Several boring cars, just no fun!

I have always found Powerflex bushes to be much firmer than others.

Yeah i think they feel firmer to the touch, never fitted any, i prefer superflex, feel more supple and cheaper

Rally Design do a few bushes, TCA/Roll bars etc:

GSF also sell a kit (Bugpack prothane) which has all except the Anti roll bar bushes included. Just found them listed on ebay for £78 direct from GSF. They are pretty hard bushes though.

The Red Bugpack ones horrid. Don't go near them.

I've used Powerflex and found them to be acceptable on a road car.

The measure used to determine their harshness is called the 'sure hardness' rating. Basically an object is stuck into them, and the resistance is measured. The Bugpack are very hard, and probably the closest thing to solid mounted.

I think if I was going to replace mine again now, I'd choose VW rubber ones, as they absorb so much better than the others. All that rubbish about people wanting the precision of the suspension etc. haven't got a clue unless they're a professional driver in a race car. Standard gear is more than fine.
