Finally got a GTi !

Did a 300 mile round trip from Portsmouth to Paignton on Sunday to pick up this little number.





She looks a lot better in the photos than she actually is, but goes like stink. Currently sitting on the P Slots, but will switch to the Cups soon.

I paid a bit more than expected, but managed to knock a chunk off the original asking price which was way too optimistic.

I'll be posting a shopping list in the "Parts Wanted" section - let the spending begin.

Got her insured today and took it for a spin - nice!

Congrats fella, looks really tidy. Sits very well on the cups too. Has it already been lowered?

Sitting on 40mm eibach springs, but could do with some konis too.
2 of the cups are 'heavily' kurbed which is a shame.

Still, a few battle scars means i'm less precious about it and can just enjoy

Worth the trip then, but you may find you end up going even further for parts than the car, as i have done.

At least the parts will be easier to bring home. It is the first time I had towed a trailer with a car on - I had it too far forward on the trailer and it wasn't comfy.
Had to stop a few miles later and move the car so it was balanced better across the trailer wheels. You live & learn!  ops:

Drove loads better then, but I was paranoid about the straps comming loose - had to stop and have a check, but all was good
