Fed up!!!

Had lovely day out with my son today untill knob head in transit van smashed into the back of me cabbie :banghead:
We are ok I got a bit of neck pain but nothing bad.
I contacted my insurance and they are talking writeoff already!!!. They gonna asess it in a couple of days, damage doesnt look too bad though.
This is the imprint of a ford transit front end!!!

I am gutted as i've only had me car since may and have big plans for her. Having full respray and interior done at end of the month. I really hope they don't write her off as I won't get me money back.
I am totally fed up and feel like shit, hope it gets sorted soon.
This is me bumper just pushed in abit i hope but it took a hell of a bang so could be bad :dontknow:

Chin up matey, the main thing is you and your Son are ok, could
have been a lot worse, they are good solid cars so that helps a lot.

Open the boot and check the bumper mountings etc / floor and see
if they are ok, chances are the bumper took the impact (looks that way).

Dont worry too much until they have had a look, fingers crossed
it will work out ok my friend

Best Regards

surely they can`t write it off just for that, how much does a new bumper cost?

hope it goes ok for you, andy

I'm not sure how much a bumber costs but they can be quite hard to come by. I suppose if it came down to being a vag part it could cost the earth!!!. Who knows.
I'm off to the docs today cuz me necks gone a bit stiff :(

I have a rear bumper if you need one fella!!!

There are the odd few kicking around on e bay as well.

I know a bodyshop that could sort it, a friends G60 got re-ended and needed a new back panel, we sourced one and the whole rear end is being sorted in the week.
?400 to repair.
The car has been written off. it was valued at ?4k adn he bought it back for ?600. ?400 to repair = bonus!! car fixed and ?3k better off.

Chin up at least you and your son are ok!

if you need any help or bits drop me an email on: info wide -wheels.co.uk

cheers

There's no way they can justify a write off by the looks of those pictures. If they try it then counter by providing a load of information about similar spec cars for sale to prove the value. Might be worth getting an independent quote for a repair too etc

It happened coming out of Chesterfield on to the roundabout at jnc 28 M1. The guy in the van came from Leeds it was a works van.
The insurance co are sending someone to assess the damage on tuesday. They say I have to use an approved body shop and the nearest one to me is in Hull 8O . Thats 60 miles away!!!!
They are going to pick my car up and provide me with a courtesy car if they are going to repair it. I might go and get a quote from the bodyshop thats doing me respary for me cuz I can see this getting silly!

Theres a bodyshop at Woodlands, ya know near Carcroft

Think its called 'GB paint and panel'

Happened right near where I live by the sounds of things!

Definitely worth getting an independent quote - you don't have to be at the mercy of their nominated garage's price scheme. People often don't realise that you don't HAVE to accept what they offer - fight to keep it if you want it

They cannot force you to write it off, especially a classic in a no fault claim. Tell them you want it fixing. Your insurance should back you up. It's what you pay for after all.

Well, that's not quite right. They can force you to write it off but they need to prove the damage is more than x percent of thecar's value

It doesnt even look damaged at all :dontknow:

The bumper isnt even cracked is it?

Post

No the bumper isn't cracked, the metal that holds it on to the body is bent and the bumber will need respraying which i was going to get done in anycase. I can't see them writing it off but you know what these people are like.
I am gonna take it to my local body shop tomorrow and get a written quote for the repairs, before the assesor comes on tuesday. I don't see it being too expensive but you never can tell.

Assesor came today to look at damage. He says no problem they will just replace the bumper and it should be done before the end of the month  :y:
He didn't say anything about the cost but who cares i aint paying  .
