fastest u been in a mk1??

was wonderin how fast have most ppl gone in their beast! i pushed 125 i think in standard 1.8 gti dx on a private road  :wink:

hmm the question is can you hit the rev limiter in 5th gear :wink:

Unlike you....I really have driven on a private road! Too many corners today to get faster than terminal speeds at the 1/4 mile, which for me is 95.99mph.

still good for an old car though really do reckon mk1 golf is all you need best car ever :mrgreen: and still didnt hit the rev limmiter suprised by wat it can do felt like it had more to go  but thats quick enough for me

put my 16v in mine, bearing in mind its a van, so has nothing but 2 crappy seats so is light in 4th it goes off clock at 120, am just changing to 5th! lol doubt thats anywhere near accurate tho! its got a o2a gear box in dunno if thats a standard one for a mk2 golf 16v kr engine!

I did 120 on the way back home when I bought my mk1, then noticed my wife was still behind me in her Polo 1.4! And she was only doing 80 mph, think my speedo was out a tad    

I've been up to 110 on a public road, none of that big girls blouse private road rubbish for me.

Probably go even faster with the roof up!

Ive done 115 tho could have gone faster very easily,my car is a 1.9 after rebuild.

132 mph on a gay private track and it bounced of the limiter so i guess the 8v box is ok for 130 down hill

although the speedo needle was banging against the trip button the sat nav seems accurate :dontknow:

With a 2 ltr engine and a 23mph per 1000 revs top gear had it right past the  speedo max on a slight downhill gradient, private road of course as i cannot condone speeding on a public highway. :wink:

so in both cases unknown speeds

95 in the driver but then had to slow down but didnt think it would do much more.

around 130 in a GTI Engineering car

fastest i have been is 70mph

in a 911 turbo on a track day it was 154 that was fun
